Bonding Uygulaması Nedir? | Dt. Aden Öngel
Bonding is a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment in which composite material is added to the tooth surface to correct shape, size and colour. No tooth structure is removed, and most cases are completed in one visit.
What Is Bonding?
Bonding is an aesthetic treatment in which tooth-coloured composite is layered onto the tooth surface and cured with a special light to correct shape, size and colour. No tooth structure is removed — making it one of the most conservative aesthetic options.
What Does It Solve?
- Small chips and cracks in the front teeth
- Gaps between teeth (diastema)
- Shape and size discrepancies
- Isolated discolourations and surface irregularities
The Procedure
The tooth surface is conditioned and a bonding agent is applied. Composite is built up layer by layer following the tooth’s natural anatomy, each layer light-cured. Finally the restoration is shaped to the bite and polished to a natural shine. Anaesthesia is usually not required.
Bonding or Veneers?
Bonding is a fast, conservative solution for small and mid-scale corrections. For more comprehensive colour-shape changes, or where long-term durability is the priority, porcelain veneers are considered. Because of the chewing forces involved, bonding is best suited to front teeth; on molars bearing heavy bite pressure it can wear or chip more easily, so a filling or a porcelain restoration is usually preferred there instead. The decision is clarified together with your expectations at the examination.
Aftercare
Composite surfaces can stain over time. Limiting staining foods, consistent hygiene and periodic polishing sessions keep the result looking fresh.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is bonding used?
Bonding is considered for small chips and cracks, closing gaps between teeth (diastema), shape irregularities and isolated discolourations.
Is the tooth drilled for bonding?
No. The key advantage of bonding is that material is added onto the surface without removing tooth structure.
Is bonding finished in one visit?
In most cases, yes. Session length varies with the number of teeth treated; extensive cases may need an additional appointment.
How durable is bonding?
Durability depends on biting habits, oral hygiene and the treated area. Slight staining or wear can occur over time and can be refreshed with maintenance sessions.
What should I avoid after bonding?
Avoid tea, coffee and smoking for the first 48 hours. Nail biting and chewing on hard objects shorten the life of the restoration.
Treatments often evaluated together
